Dr. Lyall Ashberg is a board-certified, double fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with more than two decades of experience specializing in pediatric orthopedics, hip preservation, and musculoskeletal health. As one of the original hip preservation specialists in Palm Beach County, Florida, he has spent his career helping patients restore mobility, reduce pain, and return to the activities that matter most.

Early in his career, Dr. Ashberg recognized that many orthopedic conditions do not begin when pain first appears. They develop gradually over years through the interaction of biomechanics, movement quality, metabolic health, recovery, nutrition, and lifestyle. This realization transformed the way he approaches patient care—from treating isolated injuries to optimizing the entire person.

That philosophy became the foundation of the Whole Human Health™ Model, an integrated approach that recognizes the musculoskeletal system as part of a much larger physiological network. Healthy joints depend not only on sound anatomy, but also on healthy muscles, cardiovascular fitness, metabolic function, nutrition, sleep, recovery, and sustainable daily habits. By addressing these interconnected systems together, patients can improve both orthopedic outcomes and long-term health.

To bring this philosophy into clinical practice, Dr. Ashberg developed the Integrated Performance & Longevity System (IPLS™)—a physician-designed framework that combines orthopedic expertise with evidence-based exercise programming, nutrition guidance, and personalized health optimization. Whether a patient is recovering from injury, managing arthritis, improving fitness, or simply trying to age well, IPLS provides practical, individualized strategies that are built for real life and grounded in science.

As part of this approach, Health Nexus also offers the Health Optimizer™ Program Builder, an innovative physician-guided platform that creates personalized aerobic training, strength training, and nutrition plans while providing patients with an interactive mobile experience that adapts as their goals and lifestyles evolve. Rather than relying on generic fitness apps or one-size-fits-all programs, every recommendation is developed within the context of the patient's health history, orthopedic considerations, and long-term objectives.
