Frequently Asked Questions
How is HealthNexus different from other orthopedic practices?
We combine board-certified orthopedic care with metabolic assessments, wellness coaching, and telehealth services in a hybrid model. Our approach, the Whole Human Health model, integrates orthopedic, metabolic, and lifestyle factors to support long-term well-being.
Doesn’t Orthopedic care require a hands-on evaluation and treatment?
While most traditional Orthopedic care involves obtaining an in-person history, performing a hands-on physical and review of imaging studies, Covid taught us that 80% of Orthopedic diagnoses can be made virtually, particularly when the clinician can view imaging digitally.
From there, patients can be triaged to our in-person clinic where we provide most forms of non-operative Orthopedic management including bracing, casting or super-accurate ultrasound guided injections. Here we focus on maximizing conservative treatment by leveraging the power of your own biology with Orthobiologics (PRP and BMAC). We can also provide customized care and preventative plans, facilitate referral to the most qualified and trusted specialists, including Physical and Occupational therapists, athletic trainers or vetted, surgical specialists who are the best in their area of expertise. We can also provide an opinion on care you have received elsewhere or provide an explanation of medical imaging you have had and correlate it to a radiologist report, in more understandable terms.
Ultimately, we strive to provide you an understanding of your condition and reassurance that you are making an informed decision about your medical care.
Do you offer both virtual and in-person visits?
Yes. Most initial evaluations and follow-ups can be done via secure telehealth. We also offer in-person visits weekly for physical exams, procedures, and testing that require hands-on care.
What types of conditions do you treat?
We treat a broad range of orthopedic issues, from pediatric and adult traumatic accidents, to sports injuries, joint pain, and overuse problems. We also provide guidance on metabolic health, injury prevention, and performance optimization.
How do you review my medical images (e.g. X-ray, MRI etc.)?
We have secured partnerships with many local radiology groups such as RayUS and Advanced Diagnostic Group/Acumen who provide us with secure, digital access to patient images and radiology reports. For patients with images obtained elsewhere, we have partnered with MyMedicalImages.com, where patients can securely upload their images. Once uploaded, we can review them during your virtual visit. It’s HIPAA-compliant and easy to use.
What is PNOE testing and how does it help?
PNOE is a breath-based metabolic analyzer that measures your oxygen use and Carbon Dioxide production, to assess fat/carbohydrate burning, and cardiovascular performance. It allows us to personalize your nutrition, training, and recovery plans for better outcomes.
Do you accept insurance?
We accept a limited number of commercial insurers and Medicare. We also offer transparent cash-pay options for those who are out-of-network or prefer not to use insurance.
What are your hours of operation?
We provide virtual visits throughout the week. In-person clinic hours are currently held one day per week, by appointment only.
How can referring providers work with you?
We collaborate with primary care and specialty providers to co-manage patients, provide second opinions, and offer advanced imaging reviews.
Do you offer regenerative medicine services?
Yes. We offer PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and BMAC (Bone Marrow Concentrate), ultrasound-guided injections, and other regenerative options for certain conditions. These are typically cash-pay services. More wellness and longevity options are being added every day.
How do I get started?
You can request a virtual appointment here, upload your images via MyMedicalImages, and we’ll guide you step-by-step.
